In Partnership with

St Columb’s Park was transformed into a magical fiery landscape when fire alchemists Compagnie Carabosse used scrap metal, charcoal, and even cast-off clothing to create a huge magical fire garden.

Carabosse love to transform streets and parks into flickering artworks that remind us of the most basic and elemental human needs. The company was invited to create an extraordinary new piece in and around St. Columb’s Park for Lumiere Derry~Londonderry which the audience could explore. Carabosse are old friends of Lumiere producers Artichoke, having appeared at the festival in Durham in 2011 with Spirit.

One of France’s most important street art groups, Carabosse are a collective made up of artistic designers, scenographers, constructors, actors, musicians, technicians, inventors, poets, photographers and visual artists. They have been creating work for over 15 years, taking over public spaces both in Europe and across the world. They are driven by the philosophy that public spaces and streets should remain open to everyone and remain a place for expression and freedom, and always aim to reflect this in their shows.
