LUMIERE DURHAM 2009
Audiences were invited to follow mysterious stilted figures dressed in white.
Step by step, the figures grew to 4m high, leading the audience on a nocturnal procession through darkened streets. Twisted and majestic, bewitching and ethereal, they appeared to come from another planet.
Founded in 1994 by artistic director Jean-Baptiste Duperray, Compagnie Des Quidams has performed around the world in over forty countries, from Europe to Australia, Asia and South America. Bringing together twenty artists and technicians from theatre, dance, music and circus, the company is based in Etrez, France. They create lavish street performances that borrow from circus techniques, blending humour, visual spectacle and acrobatics.
