Novak took us on a whistle-stop audio-visual journey through time.
Combining modern projection techniques and visuals, the audiences went on a light-hearted, amusing and bizarre journey, custom built to fit the building’s facade.
Austins Department Store was established in 1830, and was reputedly the world’s oldest independent department store before it closed in 2016. Inspired by the building’s history, Novak created an audio-visual journey drawing on the fantastical novels and imagination of Jules Verne, and popular culture form the late 19th century and early 20th century when Austins was in its heyday. The piece featured a bespoke score by composer Ed Carter.
