19. EVERYONE EVER

Nighthouse Studio: a collaboration of Elaine Buckholtz and Ian Winters (USA)

Sound Collage Score: by Elaine Buckholtz and Ben Dealy

Location: Durham Cathedral Nave

A poetic confrontation in stone and light

Set within the vast and solemn interior of Durham Cathedral, EVERYONE EVER draws attention to the layered histories held within the stone of the building – belief, power, persistence, and presence. Referencing both the land that existed before the Cathedral and the technological age that shapes how we perceive and remember, the work is a poetic confrontation in stone and light with the forces of time and transformation.

EVERYONE EVER invites the pursuit of purposeful aspirations during times of upheaval, acknowledging past and present injustice, while also offering a space of reflection and quiet resilience. It encourages participants to sit within contradiction – where beauty and grief, history and future, digital and earthly coexist. EVERYONE EVER does not offer answers, but a space to move forward, unevenly but deliberately, toward what might yet be possible.
