BRILLIANT Installation

Big Knitting

Victoria MacLeod (UK)

LUMIERE DURHAM 2015

Hanging from a wall, a set of jumbo knitting needles and luminous wool glowed above a Durham street.

MacLeod knitted the installation herself, although she needed more space to do it than usual and used drain pipes instead of needles!

Mixed media textile artist, Victoria, has previously exhibited at the DLI, the Captain Cook Museum, Middlesbrough, Hartlepool Art Gallery, Durham Cathedral, Woodhorn Colliery and other private galleries. She set up the Durham City branch of the Embroiderers’ Guild and is currently chair of the North East region.

Big Knitting was originally commissioned as part of Lumiere Durham 2015 BRILLIANT competition for anyone based in or originally from the North East with a bright idea for an installation.
