32. DIAMOND GARDEN

Mick Stephenson (UK)

Location: The College

A sparkling diamond garden powered by solar technology to light up College Green.

The large diamond installation will reflect the importance of renewable energy in today’s climate. Through the creation of the piece, young people were educated on the evolution of energy, from the importance of Durham’s coal history to the value of using sustainable energy sources. Durham schoolchildren created their own solar lights that will surround Diamond Garden, presenting a sparkling garden.

Do you want to see how Britain’s energy sources have changed over time?

Diamond Garden’s Sponsor, Quorum Development, has created a timeline visualising Britain’s energy transition over the last 20 years.
