LUMIERE DURHAM 2011, LUMIERE DERRY-LONDONDERRY 2013, LUMIERE LONDON 2016
Beautiful human forms illuminated against the night sky.
French artist Cédric Le Borgne’s ethereal, illuminated Voyageurs are sculptures made of light. Sitting on rooftops, frozen mid-air in flight, they invited visitors to glance up and around, offering the possibility of connection between the sky and the ground, between dream and reality.
Le Borgne’s dream-like figures were first shown as part of Lumiere Durham 2011 and returned as part of the Lumiere Derry~Londonderry 2013. In Derry they adorned the city’s Peace Bridge, leading thousands of people from one side of the river to the other. Les Voyageurs was brought back again in 2016 to hover atmospherically above the crowds at Lumiere London.
The artist also created another installation, Was That a Dream? for Lumiere London 2018.
