The Red House

Patrice Warrener (France)

LUMIERE DURHAM 2015

A glowing transformation of Durham’s Old Shire Hall.

Inspired by the unusual shade of red that colours its bricks, Warrener illuminated the well known building with similarly warm shades of orange and yellow.  With rainbows shining from the windows, this electric riot of colour highlighted the architecture of this striking building.

Renowned across the world for his Chromolithe Polychromatic Illumination System, Warrener has created more than 60 chromolithe installations over the last fifteen years, lighting up buildings in close to a dozen different nations.

Another installation by Patrice Warrener, The Light of the Spirit, was part of Lumiere London 2016 and 2018.

“Alumno are pleased to support Lumiere Durham again as part of our longstanding commitment to developing creative talent – from leading international names like Patrice Warrener, to the local graduate artists who showcase their work in our developments.”
